Taranto 2026: One Gold and Two Silvers for Moroccan Judo

Morocco’s national judo team concluded its campaign at the 20th Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026 with three medals ( one gold and two silver ) following two days of competition on 28 and 29 August 2026.

 

Ahmed ALAOUI CHERIFI claimed gold in the men’s -60kg category. The Moroccan judoka advanced to the final, where he defeated Spain’s Luis BARROSO LOPEZ by ippon to secure the Mediterranean title.

 

In the women’s -52kg category, Soumiya IRAOUI also produced a strong run to reach the final. She finished the competition with the silver medal following her final bout against Cyprus’ Sofia ASVESTA.

 

Hassan DOUKKALI added a second silver medal to Morocco’s judo tally in the men’s -73kg category. The Moroccan progressed through the competition to reach the final, where he faced Algeria’s Messaoud Redouane DRIS.

 

With one gold and two silver medals, Morocco’s national judo team leaves Taranto 2026 with three podium finishes, adding to the Moroccan delegation’s overall medal tally at the 20th edition of the Mediterranean Games.
