FIFA World Cup 2026: Morocco Qualifies for the Round of 16

Morocco secured qualification for the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after defeating the Netherlands 3-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

The Atlas Lions booked their place in the Round of 16 after a hard-fought contest. Trailing in the match, Morocco equalised through Issa DIOP before winning the penalty shootout, with Ismaël SAIBARI converting the decisive spot kick.

This qualification confirms Morocco's strong campaign, with the national team remaining unbeaten since the start of the tournament. After finishing second in Group C with seven points, following a draw against Brazil (1-1), a victory over Scotland (1-0) and a 4-2 win over Haiti, Morocco continues its FIFA World Cup journey.

Morocco will face Canada in the Round of 16 on 4 July in Houston, United States, as they aim to continue their campaign at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
