Training: Mental Preparation for High-Level Athletes

formation

The Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) will organize a training course on mental preparation for high-level athletes on 20 and 21 October 2026 in Bouznika, under the theme: “Discovering Yourself and Understanding Your Brain: The Path to Autonomy and Success.”

Designed for national sports federations and their medical staff, the training will be led by Edward E. BARBEY, international expert in “Operational Neuroscience” applied to performance, developer of the MACOPS© and PERMAHN© models, and DU expert in medical simulation-based education (CIM6S – Casablanca).

Over the course of two days, the programme will address neuroscience applied to the mental preparation of high-level athletes, the affective, cognitive and conative processes of the human brain, as well as conscious mental representation and the management of mastery potential.

The training will also include a strong practical component, introducing participants to various mental preparation techniques based on the PERMAHN© protocol, including mental imagery, relaxation, mindfulness meditation and cardiac coherence.

The second day will focus in particular on interactions between the human brain and sports activities, as well as concepts related to personality, conation and agency. Practical exercises will complement the sessions, alongside work on post-competition self-analysis, before concluding with a debriefing.

Through this training course, the CNOM continues its training initiatives addressing the different dimensions of performance and the support of high-level athletes.
