In Marrakech, facing a strong ATP Tour field (Association of Tennis Professionals, the international professional men’s tennis circuit), Moroccan players delivered an encouraging performance at the 40th edition of the Grand Prix Hassan II tennis tournament, held from March 29 to April 5, 2026.

Five Moroccan players took part in this year’s tournament. In the main draw, Reda BENNANI, Taha BAADI and Karim BENNANI were granted wild cards, while Younes LALAMI LAAROUSSI and Amine JAMJI competed in the qualifying rounds.

From the first round, Taha BAADI stood out with a win over Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic (world No. 84) in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 6-1), before his run came to an end in the Round of 16 against France’s Corentin Moutet, the tournament’s No. 3 seed.

At the same time, Karim BENNANI secured a solid victory against France’s Quentin Halys (world No. 90) (6-4, 6-7, 6-2), confirming his level of performance, before concluding his campaign in the Round of 16 against Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann (world No. 64) after a competitive match.

Reda BENNANI, also competing in the main draw, delivered a committed performance against Italy’s Mattia Bellucci, the tournament’s No. 4 seed, in a closely contested match from his opening round.

In the qualifying draw, Younes LALAMI LAAROUSSI and Amine JAMJI represented Morocco, competing against international opponents and gaining valuable experience in a demanding competitive environment.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this 40th edition of the Grand Prix Hassan II, the only ATP 250 tournament organized on the African continent, once again brings together a field of world-class players.

Beyond the results, Morocco’s participation was marked by encouraging performances. The presence of two players in the Round of 16, a first since 2017, along with their ability to compete against top 100 players, reflects a positive dynamic.

These elements highlight promising prospects for Moroccan tennis, driven by an emerging new generation of players.
