The Moroccan national boxing team delivered an encouraging performance at the 2026 World Boxing Cup (1st stage), held in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, from April 20 to 26, a major event on the international circuit that brought together nearly 400 boxers from 50 national federations across five continents.

In this highly competitive field, Issam BENSAYAR stood out in his first appearance at this level by winning the silver medal in the 50 kg category, confirming his potential against strong global opposition.

In the women’s competition, Widad BERTAL secured the bronze medal in the 54 kg category, marking a solid return to the international stage and reaffirming her place among the competitive boxers in her division.

As the opening stage of the 2026 World Boxing Cup Series, the tournament also awarded valuable ranking points across 20 categories (10 men’s and 10 women’s), making these results a notable achievement for Moroccan boxing in a key event on the international calendar.
