Facing Ecuador and Paraguay, the National Team Continue Their Road to the 2026 World Cup
Our national football team played two friendly matches at the end of March against Ecuador and Paraguay as part of its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Having secured qualification for the tournament in September 2025, Morocco is set to make its seventh appearance at the World Cup finals and its third in succession.
The first match, played in Madrid on 27 March, ended in a 1-1 draw against Ecuador, with Morocco finding the equaliser late in the game. A few days later, on 31 March in Lens, Morocco claimed a 2-1 victory over Paraguay.
Beyond the results, this two-match sequence gave the squad the opportunity to regain the rhythm of international competition and continue its build-up to the global event due to take place in North America. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, starting on 11 June 2026.
Morocco already know their upcoming fixtures in the tournament. They will face Brazil on 13 June, Scotland on 19 June and Haiti on 24 June in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
Through these two friendly matches, the national team continue to build momentum ahead of this major event on the international calendar.
