CNOM: Condolence Message to the CIJM in Tribute to Davide TIZZANO
The Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) learned with deep sorrow of the passing of Davide TIZZANO, President of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG).
Throughout his mandate, Davide TIZZANO served the Mediterranean movement with dedication and responsibility, making a significant contribution to the development and international standing of the ICMG, in full respect of the fundamental values of the Mediterranean Games: peace, cooperation, sporting excellence, and unity among peoples.
His commitment to the ICMG spanned twelve years of service, first as a member of the Executive Committee from 2013 to 2021, and subsequently as President from 2021 onward.
A former elite athlete, Davide TIZZANO distinguished himself through an outstanding sporting career. A two-time Olympic champion in rowing, he won the gold medal in the quadruple sculls at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, followed by gold in the double sculls at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, alongside Agostino Abbagnale. His achievements also include seventeen Italian national titles, a World Championship title in rowing in 1986, and a World Championship title in sailing in 1993.
The Moroccan National Olympic Committee extends its most sincere condolences to the family of Davide TIZZANO, his loved ones, and to all members and colleagues of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games.
